Iced Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso
Some kind of copycat/adaptation version to Starbucks Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso Drink
So, how important is coffee...and, iced espresso at that ?!
When I travel, making sure I know where the best coffee spots are is generally the first thing I sort out. And, of course, making good coffee at home is necessary. So, when making a tasty cup of iced coffee deliciousness that transports me back to Washington State…well, that’s pretty perfect.
I’m from Washington State originally, land of Starbucks! And I hate to admit, but it wasn’t until I moved abroad that I truly appreciated and missed oh so much… Starbucks. Now, that I live in a country that doesn’t have a Starbucks (which I told myself I would never do again) I am eager to find Starbucks beans or Starbucks espresso pods for my Nespresso machine whenever I can.
Then, I saw a recipe for an Iced Shaken Latte last week and then came across the Starbucks recipe too, and I knew I needed to give it a go. I had to adapt it for what I have and use, for my tastebuds preference. And, I’m absolutely crazy about this drink. *as I sit here sipping it now*
It’s very simple and can be adapted to your own preferences and what you have on hand. But, I think you’ll love it!
Iced Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
2 shots espresso
1 t brown sugar
Dash of cinnamon
1.5 shots of coconut milk
ice
Tip
I have limited items to mix drinks. So, I use a mason jar of sorts to shake my espresso, which works wonderfully! No complaints.
Instructions
I add the brown sugar and a dash of cinnamon to the cup I’ll be pouring my shots into, so that way the hot espresso can blend in with the sugar well. I then brew 2 shots of espresso and mix the sugar in.
Next, I add a few ice cubes to the mason jar, then put in the 2 shots blended with the sugar in the jar. Put the lid on the jar nice and tight and shake for about 20 seconds.
Add ice to a tall glass (12-16 oz). I like mine nice and icy, so I’ll usually fill the ice to the brim.
Pour the shots over the ice. I generally add the equivalent of 1.5-2 shots of coconut milk over the top of the coffee.
Then, add a dash of cinnamon to the top of the drink.
Notes
Of course, add less or more coffee to your liking, as well as change the measurements for the milk, and some prefer more sugar. The measurements here are to my liking. I enjoy the coffee being the overpowering taste here, with hints of sweetness and creaminess accentuating it.
Could be made with french press coffee as well.
And, there you have it! A tasty iced brown sugar shaken espresso to enjoy!
I was inspired by the recipe I saw on Half Baked Harvest, for her Iced Brown Sugar Latte with shaken espresso recipe which I’ll link here. After I tried this drink, I’m addicted!
I hope you enjoy it!
